Gastronomy

Today I start my first blog! In this matter I have no experience as in tourist rentals, so I ask for a little patience and I'm sure I'll improve.

I am going to write restaurant recommendations, of course personal recommendations. I know there are many more places that should be written about in this blog, but to start I will leave five restaurants and I will add my three favorite dishes from each place. Here are, for me, some spectacular places that you have to try when you come to Jávea:

1. La Cajita Azul - It is located in the Old Town of Jávea, to be more exact on Calle Finestrat. The atmosphere is cozy in a small place and they play great music. They have a wide variety of beers and I do recommend that you reserve a table as it fills up very quickly. They have a blackboard with the recommendations of the dishes and you choose what you want from this blackboard. My three favorite dishes would be: the 'huevos rotos' with duck and vegetables, their beef tartare with wasabi and the baked camembert (and I'm not a fan of cheese!)

2. Cala Blandida – It is located in the Port of Jávea, at the end of the promenade. It has a large terrace with views of the sea and, as they themselves say, the turquoise color, the wood and a host of details that enrich passageways, corners and shelves continue to be protagonists. I personally love the breakfasts they offer, especially the 'Cala Bandida' breakfast, they make the best potato tortilla. They don't have a grand variety on the menu, but it's easier to choose your dish that way. My three dishes that I always order are: bravas bandidas, the black angus beef burger with foie truffle and the 'torrijas' de horchata (French toast) – the best I've ever had, I only order them here. In CB you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner or if you prefer you can just have a snack with its beautiful views... because who wouldn't want to have 'torrijas' for a snack.

3. La Siesta – It is located on beach road, to be more specific on Avenida Mediterraneo. It is a 'beach bar' type with a modern Ibizan style. Here you eat very well but if you like your evening drinks it is an ideal place to have a good cocktail. There is a beach area with hammocks, great to be there with your Cosmopolitan and there is also the restaurant area. My dishes that I choose from here are: the homemade Iberian ham croquettes, Marrakech-style squid with ginger (these are a 'must') and I also opt for their patatas bravas, for me it is the best bravas sauce that sometimes I ask for french fries with their brava sauce...

4. Amarre 152 – It is located next to the channel of Avenida Fontana. The owners have been in the hotel business for more than 20 years with a lot of experience with paellas and seafood, I also take this opportunity to say that they have another restaurant on Avenida Mediterraneo – Tapes Muntanyar (I'll write this one down for the next blog). A family atmosphere with a wide variety of delicious dishes and a wine cellar. They also have several menus where you can choose spectacular starters. My three dishes would be: the beef tenderloin with truffle and boletus, its arroz a banda that leaves a 'socarrat' that I love and its artisan turron ice cream. Oh, and if you like red wine like me, they have a cellar with a wide variety of wines. I can recommend the Maestre Alma del Moral, a Ribera del Duero that goes very well with beef tenderloin.

5. La Trastienda – It is also located in the Old Town, where the Post Office is located. It is a 'wine bar' but they also offer a selection of Spanish and Asian tapas made with the best local market ingredients. I recommend taking a walk through the old town and entering the small shops, then you can stop at this ideal place and have a good glass of wine or cold beer and try their authentic tapas. My three favorite dishes have to be: the oxtail, thai chicken wings and any 'montadito' they offer... and there are many!

Well, here goes my gastronomy blog, I hope you have enjoyed reading. I got hungry just writing it. There are so many places we don't know exist and I think we should share our personal recommendations and support restaurants & bars if we have had a good experience. You know what they say about sharing: sharing is caring, sharing is living, sharing is loving.

Best,

Francesca – Owner Mar Bay.
